We honour and celebrate the skills, compassion, and commitment of nurses in hospitals, long-term care and across the broader health care system. Every single day, in collaboration with other staff, nurses make a positive difference in the lives of patients by providing the best care possible under challenging circumstances.

Unfortunately, due to unconscionable government policies of wage restraint, underfunding, and consequently understaffing, nurses in Ontario are subject to high rates of violence, stress and burnout. In OCHU-CUPE’s 2023 poll, 82% of RPNs reported high stress levels and 64% said they had trouble sleeping.

OCHU-CUPE will continue its advocacy and fight for a just system where nurses and all frontline health care workers have decent working conditions, enabling them to deliver high quality public health care to the people of Ontario. #NationalNursingWeek
